2018 YEAR IN REVIEW
Thirty years ago, our doors first opened to serve families with seriously ill or injured children. In 2018, while celebrating this important milestone, we launched our Together Capital Campaign in order to more than double our guest room capacity. In addition to these new rooms, the expansion will also feature a teen room, a large children’s play area, expanded dining rooms, and a second kitchen, allowing us to serve more families and enhance their experience with us. Throughout the year, the daily work of our mission—providing comfort, care, and support—remained steady. One of our volunteers launched a Cher in the House program; we cut the ribbon on our new playground; and we celebrated with our closest friends and partners at our Walk for Kids and Dusk at the Grove. It was indeed a very exciting year that proves: Together we can continue to make a difference.

THE
PETROPULOS FAMILY
Triplets Wyatt, Landry, and Blake Petropulos were born two-months premature after their mother, Brooke, went into the hospital for a routine non-stress test and ultrasound. When the doctors discovered that Blake’s heart had stopped beating, they decided to perform an emergency C-section in order to avoid any risk of losing another one of the children. For Brooke, once the operating was complete, the thought of travelling more than an hour each way from their home to visit Wyatt and Landry in the NICU was unimaginable. Fortunately, the Orange County Ronald McDonald House welcomed them in with open arms. “The generous volunteers fed us when the thought of eating was the last thing we could think about, and they were there to support us with kind words on some of our most difficult days,” Brooke says. After 40 days, Wyatt was discharged from the hospital and moved in with his parents at the House. Ten days later, Landry was also discharged and they all returned home as a family.
