2018 YEAR IN REVIEW
In 2018, we officially launched our capital campaign, which will grow our program from 3 guest rooms to 7 guest rooms, in addition to adding offices for staff and more common areas for families and volunteers. In the spring, we hosted a campaign kickoff event that was widely attended by local officials and media, as well as by many of our closest friends and partners. Just a couple of months later, we were overwhelmed by the news that the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House would receive more than $250,000 towards our capital campaign from AbbVie, part of a $100M gift by the company to help add 600 new guest rooms at 32 Ronald McDonald Houses throughout the United States. All of these exciting changes, and the wonderful relationship we enjoy with our hospital partner, Dignity HealthTM, has helped the House make some great new friends over the past year, including former MLB pitchers George Culver and Colby Lewis, who joined our capital campaign committee to help raise funds for our new House.
CRYSTAL'S STORY
"The House was a wonderful place to stay to get away from all the stresses of the hospital without being too far away from Bella. The staff will always be a part of our family."
